Established in 1994 and about a 30-minute drive from downtown Kuala Lumpur, The Mines Resort & Golf Club has certainly made a name for itself, having hosted world-class tournaments including the men’s and women’s World Cups and U.S. PGA Tours regular stops.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., on what used to be an open-cast tin mine, measures 6,191 meters from the championship tee boxes and 5,749 meters from the blue tees. The white tee boxes stretch 5,275 meters and the red 4,759 meters. The course is a masterpiece of environmental restoration and constructive re-engineering, the site was transformed from a land hostile to nature and the sustainment of life to a terrain brimming with a plethora of flora and fauna.

In each case the course presents the golfer with a real decent challenge, primarily because of its character. There are numerous hazards laid out along the way and several holes that richly reward those who take calculated risks, without giving away too much. The Club was the host of the first U.S. PGA Tour regular event outside the United States – The 2010 CIMB Classic, this 18-hole beauty plays to a par-36 over the front nine and 35 on the second nine.

The Mines has a clubhouse that is spacious and pristinely kept. It also features a driving range, pro shop, excellent change rooms, The Mines Hall of Fame banquet hall, the famed Palong golfers’ terrace and standout cuisine – be it local, Indian sub-continent specials, authentic oriental or western. The Club ranked #51 by Top 100 Golf Courses Asia in 2018.
